S. Aid, et al. (H1 Collaboration)

TL;DR
This paper reports measurements of charged particle multiplicities in deep inelastic scattering at HERA, analyzing their dependence on kinematic variables and comparing results with various theoretical models and other collision data.
Contribution
It provides detailed measurements of multiplicity distributions in deep inelastic scattering and compares them with models and other collision data, enhancing understanding of particle production mechanisms.
Findings
Multiplicity distributions vary with W and Q^2
Data agree with QCD-based models and other collision types
Fits to Negative Binomial and Lognormal distributions are successful
Abstract
Using the H1 detector at HERA, charged particle multiplicity distributions in deep inelastic ep scattering have been measured over a large kinematical region. The evolution with and of the multiplicity distribution and of the multiplicity moments in pseudorapidity domains of varying size is studied in the current fragmentation region of the hadronic centre-of-mass frame. The results are compared with data from fixed target lepton-nucleon interactions, annihilations and hadron-hadron collisions as well as with expectations from QCD based parton models. Fits to the Negative Binomial and Lognormal distributions are presented.
