Urs Langenegger (ETH Zurich)

TL;DR
This paper presents a Monte Carlo simulation study for measuring the rare decay Bs->mu+mu- at CMS, focusing on detector simulation, trigger algorithms, and event selection to evaluate detection prospects.
Contribution
It introduces a detailed simulation framework for analyzing Bs->mu+mu- decay in CMS, including trigger and selection strategies, which is novel for this decay channel.
Findings
Estimated sensitivity for Bs->mu+mu- detection
Optimized trigger and selection algorithms
Assessment of background suppression effectiveness
Abstract
We present a Monte Carlo simulation study of measuring the rare leptonic decay Bs->mu+mu- with the CMS experiment at the LHC. The study is based on a full detector simulation for signal and background events. We discuss the high-level trigger algorithm and the offline event selection.
