TL;DR
This study searched for the exotic $ heta^+$ pentaquark in photon-proton reactions within 1.6-3.8 GeV but found no evidence, setting upper limits on its production cross section and width.
Contribution
First experimental search for $ heta^+$ pentaquark in these reactions with detailed upper limit constraints.
Findings
No evidence for $ heta^+$ in the invariant mass spectra.
Set 95% confidence level upper limit on production cross section at 0.7 nb.
Estimated upper limit on $ heta^+$ width between 0.01 and 7 MeV.
Abstract
The exclusive reactions and have been studied in the photon energy range 1.6--3.8 GeV, searching for evidence of the exotic baryon in the decays and . Data were collected with the CLAS detector at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. The integrated luminosity was about 70 pb. The reactions have been isolated by detecting the and proton directly, the neutral kaon via its decay to and the neutron or neutral kaon via the missing mass technique. The mass and width of known hyperons such as , and were used as a check of the mass determination accuracy and experimental resolution. Approximately 100,000 's and 150,000 's were observed in the and $\bar K^0…
