Measurement and QCD Analysis of the Diffractive Deep-Inelastic Scattering Cross Section at HERA
H1 Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper presents a detailed measurement and QCD analysis of diffractive deep-inelastic scattering at HERA, extracting diffractive parton distributions and examining their properties across various kinematic ranges.
Contribution
It provides the first comprehensive NLO QCD analysis of diffractive PDFs using H1 data, including the determination of the gluon distribution and the effective pomeron trajectory.
Findings
Diffractive cross sections are consistent with a factorisable $ ext{xp}$ dependence.
The gluon carries about 70% of the exchanged momentum.
Diffractive to inclusive cross section ratios show little $Q^2$ dependence.
Abstract
A detailed analysis is presented of the diffractive deep-inelastic scattering process , where is a proton or a low mass proton excitation carrying a fraction of the incident proton longitudinal momentum and the squared four-momentum transfer at the proton vertex satisfies . Using data taken by the H1 experiment, the cross section is measured for photon virtualities in the range , triple differentially in , and , where is the Bjorken scaling variable. At low , the data are consistent with a factorisable dependence, which can be described by the exchange of an effective pomeron trajectory with intercept . Diffractive parton distribution functions and their uncertainties are…
