Haibo Li (For BES-III Collaboration)

TL;DR
The BES-III experiment at BEPC-II aims to advance charm physics by collecting large data samples for studying charm decays and testing the Standard Model, including CKM matrix elements and potential new physics.
Contribution
This paper details the charm physics program at BES-III, highlighting its potential to produce high-precision data for validating Lattice QCD and measuring CKM parameters.
Findings
Large event samples of charm decays will enable precise tests of the Standard Model.
High-precision data will validate Lattice QCD calculations at the few percent level.
Results will improve measurements of CKM matrix elements.
Abstract
We report on the charm physics potential at BES-III at BEPC-II which will make significant contribution to quark flavor physics this decade. The charm physics program will include studies of leptonic, semileptonic and hadronic charm decays, and tests for physics beyond the Standard Model. Event samples of the order of 30 million pairs, 2 million pairs at threshold and decays will be produced with one year design luminosity. High precision charm data will enable us to validate forthcoming Lattice QCD calculations at the few percent level. These can then be used to make precise measurements of CKM elements, , , , and , which are useful to improve the accuracy of test of the CKM unitarity.
