B. Aubert, et al, BABAR Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper measures the partial branching fraction of charmless semileptonic B decays and extracts the CKM matrix element |V_{ub}| using a large data sample and theoretical calculations to reduce uncertainties.
Contribution
It provides a new measurement of the partial branching fraction and a more precise extraction of |V_{ub}| by employing innovative theoretical techniques.
Findings
Partial branching fraction: (0.87 ± 0.09_stat ± 0.09_sys ± 0.01_th)×10^{-3}
Reduced theoretical uncertainties using inclusive photon spectrum and moments
Improved precision in |V_{ub}| determination
Abstract
Charmless semileptonic decays, , are studied in a sample of 232 million decays recorded with the BaBar detector, in events where the decay of the second meson is fully reconstructed. Inclusive charmless decays are selected in kinematic regions where the dominant background from semileptonic B decays to charm is reduced by requirements on the hadronic mass and the momentum transfer . The partial branching fraction for decays for GeV/c^2 and Gev^2/c^4 is measured to be . The CKM matrix element is determined by using theoretical calculations of phase space acceptances. Theoretical uncertainties in this extrapolation are reduced by using the…
