P.Zh.Aslanyan, V.N.Emelyanenko, G.G. Rikhkvitzkaya

TL;DR
This study measures the production cross sections of $\Lambda$ and $K^0_s$ particles in proton-carbon collisions at 10 GeV/c, revealing higher $\Lambda/\pi^+$ ratios than in proton-proton interactions and comparing experimental results with models.
Contribution
First measurement of $\Lambda$ and $K^0_s$ production cross sections in pC collisions at 10 GeV/c with comparison to models and other nuclear interactions.
Findings
$\Lambda$ production cross section: 13.3±1.7 mb.
$\K^0_s$ production cross section: 3.8±0.6 mb.
$\Lambda/\pi^+$ ratio is about twice that in pp reactions.
Abstract
The experimental data from the 2m propane bubble chamber have been analyzed for pC reactions at 10 GeV/c. The estimation of experimental inclusive cross sections for and production in the p collision is equal to = 13.31.7 mb and = 3.80.6 mb, respectively. The measured ratio from pC reaction is equal to (5.3. The experimental ratio in the pC reaction is approximately two times larger than the ratio from pp reactions or from simulated pC reactions by FRITIOF model for the same energy. The ratio in interaction C+C at momentum 10 Gev/c is four times larger than the ratio from p+p reactions at the same energy.
