TL;DR
This paper measures the production cross section of Z bosons decaying into tau pairs in proton-antiproton collisions at 1.96 TeV, using data from the DØ detector, and finds results consistent with the Standard Model.
Contribution
First measurement of Z to tau tau cross section at Tevatron energies using a specific decay channel with detailed background estimation.
Findings
Measured cross section: 237 ± 15 (stat) ± 18 (sys) ± 15 (lum) pb.
Results agree with Standard Model predictions.
Analyzed 2008 candidate events with 55% estimated background.
Abstract
We present a measurement of the cross section for production times the branching fraction to leptons, Br, in collisions at 1.96 TeV in the channel in which one decays into , and the other into or . The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 226 pb collected with the D{\O}detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The final sample contains 2008 candidate events with an estimated background of 55%. From this we obtain Br(stat)(sys)(lum) pb, in agreement with the standard model prediction.
