TL;DR
This paper measures event-by-event charge fluctuations in pion and kaon collisions at 250 GeV/c, analyzing how these fluctuations depend on rapidity window size, position, and multiplicity, with corrections for conservation effects tested.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed analysis of charge fluctuation dependence on rapidity window size and position in these collisions, including correction assessments.
Findings
Charge fluctuations vary with rapidity window size and position.
Corrections for global charge conservation and stopping effects are evaluated.
Discrepancies in corrections by STAR and PHENIX are estimated.
Abstract
We report on measurements of event-by-event charge fluctuations in and collisions at 250 GeV/. The dependence of these fluctuations on the size of the rapidity windows are presented for the first time in the full phase space domain. The corrections for the influence of global charge conservation and leading-particle stopping are tested by the data. The discrepancy due to incomplete correction given by STAR and PHENIX are estimated. The dependence of the fluctuations on the position of the rapidity bin and on the multiplicity at different rapidity windows are also presented.
