CDF and D0 top quark cross section measurements
Lars Sonnenschein (for the CDF, D0 collaborations)

TL;DR
This paper reports preliminary measurements of top quark pair production cross sections and single top quark limits from Tevatron experiments, showing consistency with the Standard Model and projecting future observation prospects.
Contribution
It provides new measurements of top quark production cross sections and exclusion limits based on early Tevatron data, confirming Standard Model predictions.
Findings
ttbar cross section measurements are consistent with the Standard Model
Data and Monte Carlo predictions agree well in single top searches
Single top observation expected with approximately 2 fb^-1 of data
Abstract
Preliminary results of ttbar cross section measurements and single top exclusion limits of the Tevatron experiments CDF and D0 are presented. The different measurements are based on a dataset between 140 and 200 inverse pb corresponding to a data taking period from spring 2002 to September 2003. The ttbar cross section measurements are consistent with each other and the Standard Model prediction. Data and Monte-Carlo prediction are in good agreement in the search for single top quark. Its observation is anticipated with roughly 2 inverse fb integrated luminosity.
