TL;DR
This paper investigates the structure of virtual photons at HERA by measuring dijet production and comparing the results to theoretical models, enhancing understanding of photon interactions in the transition region.
Contribution
It provides new measurements of virtual photon structure functions in the transition region using ZEUS data, with detailed differential cross sections and comparison to QCD predictions.
Findings
Measured differential cross sections for dijet production
Observed agreement with QCD-based theoretical models
Enhanced understanding of virtual photon structure in the transition region
Abstract
Measurements of the structure of the virtual photon in the transition region between quasi-real photons and those far from mass-shell have been made with the ZEUS detector at HERA, using an integrated luminosity of 38pb-1. Dijet final states are identified, and differential cross sections are presented in terms of xgo, an estimator of the fraction of the photon energy which takes part in the QCD subprocess. Comparison is made to theoretical predictions.
