TL;DR
This paper reports the first measurement of the $ar{p}p o K_S K_S \eta$ cross section at beam momenta of 1.45 and 1.7 GeV/c, providing new data on strangeness production in antiproton-proton collisions.
Contribution
It presents the first in-flight measurement of the $ar{p}p o K_S K_S \eta$ reaction cross section at specific beam momenta, expanding understanding of strangeness production.
Findings
Cross sections are consistent with phase-space extrapolation.
First measurement of this reaction in flight.
Results support existing models of annihilation at rest.
Abstract
The PS185 experiment at LEAR/CERN has investigated strangeness production in antiproton-proton collisions with final states such as , , , and . Results are presented from a study of about 32,000 {} events obtained at several antiproton momenta in the regions of 1.45 and 1.7 GeV/c. The cross sections extracted at these momenta constitute the first measurement of this reaction in flight and are broadly consistent with expectations of a phase-space extrapolation of branching ratios from annihilation at rest.
