First Results from the PHOBOS Experiment at RHIC
C. Roland, et al. (PHOBOS Collaboration)

TL;DR
The PHOBOS experiment at RHIC has provided initial data on gold-gold collisions at different energies, revealing insights into particle production, anisotropy, and particle ratios at mid-rapidity.
Contribution
First experimental results from PHOBOS at RHIC, analyzing energy dependence, centrality effects, and azimuthal anisotropy in Au-Au collisions.
Findings
Energy dependence of particle production observed
Azimuthal anisotropy measured at mid-rapidity
Particle ratios analyzed at different collision energies
Abstract
PHOBOS is one of four experiments studying Au-Au collisions at RHIC. During the first running period RHIC provided Au+Au collisions at = 56 GeV and 130 GeV. The data collected during this period allowed us to study the energy and centrality dependence of particle production, the anisotropy of the final state azimuthal distribution and particle ratios at mid-rapidity.
