New results from NA48 experiment on neutral kaon rare decays
Andrea Bizzeti

TL;DR
The NA48 experiment observed a significant CP-violating asymmetry in K_L decays to pi+ pi- e+ e-, and for the first time detected this decay in K_S, providing new insights into neutral kaon rare decays.
Contribution
First observation of K_S to pi+ pi- e+ e- decay and measurement of CP asymmetry in K_L decay, advancing understanding of CP violation in neutral kaons.
Findings
Large CP-violating asymmetry in K_L decay
First observation of K_S decay to pi+ pi- e+ e-
Quantitative measurement of asymmetry percentage
Abstract
Recent results by the NA48 collaboration on neutral kaons rare decays into the pi+ pi- e+ e- final state are presented. A large CP-violating asymmetry A(K_L)=(13.9+-2.7+-2.0)% has been observed in the K_L to pi+ pi- e+ e- decay. The K_S to pi+ pi- e+ e- decay has been observed for the first time, showing no such asymmetry.
