TL;DR
This paper reports on the measurement of omega meson production at high transverse momenta in pi^-Be collisions at 515 GeV/c, comparing results with QCD models and analyzing meson production ratios.
Contribution
It provides the first measurement of omega meson production at large p_T in pi^-Be interactions and examines the vector to pseudoscalar meson production ratio.
Findings
Measured omega meson cross sections at 3.5 < p_T < 8 GeV/c
Compared data with Monte Carlo QCD generator predictions
Extracted the vector to pseudoscalar meson production ratio
Abstract
We present results on the production of omega mesons at high transverse momenta in pi^-Be interactions at 515 GeV/c. The data span the kinematic range 3.5 < p_T < 8 GeV/c. We compare the measured cross section with expectations from Monte Carlo QCD generators. The relative yield of omega to pi^0 mesons is used to extract the ratio of vector to pseudoscalar meson production for the first generation of quarks.
