TL;DR
This paper provides an update on the theoretical and experimental progress in magnetic monopoles, including cosmic ray searches, energy loss studies, and low mass monopole investigations, highlighting recent advancements and ongoing challenges.
Contribution
It offers a comprehensive review of recent developments in magnetic monopole research, covering theoretical updates and experimental search strategies since 1995.
Findings
Lower flux limits in cosmic ray searches
New insights into monopole energy losses in matter
Progress in low mass monopole detection techniques
Abstract
The main aim of this lecture is to give an update on the lectures on Magnetic Monopoles (MMs) of the 1995 Trieste School. The update concerns theoretical developments, searches for GUT monopoles in the penetrating cosmic radiation at ever lower fluxes, study of the energy losses of MMs in the Earth and in detectors, searches for low mass monopoles, and finally mention byproducts of MM searches.
