New Proof of the Generalized Second Law
Shinji Mukohyama

TL;DR
This paper proves the generalized second law of black hole thermodynamics for black holes formed via gravitational collapse, extending previous proofs that only applied to eternal black holes.
Contribution
It provides a new proof of the generalized second law for realistic black holes originating from gravitational collapse.
Findings
Proof of the generalized second law for collapsing black holes
Extension of previous results from eternal to realistic black holes
Supports thermodynamic consistency in black hole physics
Abstract
The generalized second law of black hole thermodynamics was proved by Frolov and Page for a quasi-stationary eternal black hole. However, realistic black holes arise from a gravitational collapse, and in this case their proof does not hold. In this paper we prove the generalized second law for a quasi-stationary black hole which arises from a gravitational collapse.
