Topological Inflation in Dual Superstring Models
M.C. Bento, O. Bertolami (IST Lisbon)

TL;DR
This paper explores the potential for inflationary solutions within S-dual superstring models, focusing on domain walls between degenerate minima related by modular transformations, revealing conditions for inflation in string theory contexts.
Contribution
It demonstrates that inflationary solutions can arise at domain walls in S-dual superstring potentials, highlighting a novel mechanism for inflation in string theory.
Findings
Inflation occurs at the core of domain walls between minima.
Solutions are associated with modular transformations.
Potential for embedding inflation in superstring models.
Abstract
We study the possibility of obtaining inflationary solutions from S-dual superstring potentials. We find, in particular, that such solutions occur at the core of domain walls separating degenerate minima whose positions differ by modular transformations.
