TL;DR
This paper proposes a dynamical model based on Jordan-Brans-Dicke theory with a scalar field that explains the age of the universe as approximately 13.5 billion years, aligning with observations of globular clusters.
Contribution
It introduces a scalar field-driven dynamical model of vacuum energy decay that accounts for the universe's age within a scalar-tensor gravity framework.
Findings
Age of universe estimated at ~13.5 Gyr for Ω₀=1
Model aligns with globular cluster ages
Vacuum energy evolves towards a cosmological constant
Abstract
A dynamical model of the decaying vacuum energy is presented, which is based on Jordan-Brans-Dicke theory with a scalar field . The solution of an evolutionary differential equation for the scalar field drives the vacuum energy towards a cosmological constant at the present epoch that can give for the age of the universe, Gyr for , which is consistent with the age of globular clusters.
