TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that mass inflation occurs inside spinning black cosmic strings, confirming a long-standing conjecture about divergence of the inner mass parameter even in non-spherical spacetimes.
Contribution
It provides the first analysis of mass inflation within spinning black cosmic strings, extending previous spherically symmetric results to more complex geometries.
Findings
Mass inflation occurs inside spinning black cosmic strings.
Inner mass parameter diverges despite non-spherical symmetry.
Confirms Poisson and Israel's conjecture in a new context.
Abstract
We show that mass inflation occurs inside spinning black cosmic string, which is a solution of a low-energy effective string theory in -dimensions. This confirms Poisson and Israel's conjecture that the inner mass parameter diverges even if spacetime is not spherically symmetric.
