Collapse of a Circular Loop of Cosmic String
David Garfinkle, G. Comer Duncan

TL;DR
This paper investigates the gravitational collapse of a circular cosmic string loop, analyzing gravitational radiation and the loop's metric near collapse using numerical and analytical methods within a weak field approximation.
Contribution
It provides a combined numerical and analytical study of cosmic string loop collapse, focusing on gravitational radiation and metric behavior near the collapse point.
Findings
Gravitational radiation emitted during collapse quantified.
Analytical metric description near the collapse point derived.
Weak field approximation effectively models the process.
Abstract
We study the collapse of a circular loop of cosmic string. The gravitational field of the string is treated using the weak field approximation. The gravitational radiation from the loop is evaluated numerically. The memtric of the loop near the point of collapse is found analytically.
