TL;DR
This paper explores a class of four-dimensional alternative gravity theories that maintain existing degrees of freedom and are physically motivated, analyzing their Hamiltonian formulation and connections to previous models.
Contribution
It introduces a specific class of non-metric gravity theories with a detailed Hamiltonian analysis and links to earlier theoretical frameworks.
Findings
Theories are specific to four dimensions.
No new degrees of freedom are introduced.
Connections to earlier gravity models are established.
Abstract
We discuss a class of alternative gravity theories that are specific to four dimensions, do not introduce new degrees of freedom, and come with a physical motivation. In particular we sketch their Hamiltonian formulation, and their relation to some earlier constructions.
