TL;DR
This paper uses high-precision numerical methods to reveal intricate bifurcation and fine structure phenomena in the critical collapse of a self-gravitating sigma-field, providing a dynamical systems explanation.
Contribution
It uncovers a hidden fine structure in critical collapse phenomena and offers a dynamical system framework for understanding these complex behaviors.
Findings
Identification of bifurcation phenomena in critical collapse
Discovery of fine structure in narrow parameter windows
Explanation of phenomena through dynamical systems theory
Abstract
Building on previous work on the critical behavior in gravitational collapse of the self-gravitating SU(2) -field and using high precision numerical methods we uncover a fine structure hidden in a narrow window of parameter space. We argue that this numerical finding has a natural explanation within a dynamical system framework of critical collapse.
