Sebastiano Sonego, Marek A. Abramowicz

TL;DR
This paper investigates the electromagnetic self-force on charged particles in conformally static spacetimes using optical geometry, deriving conditions for when local self-force terms vanish.
Contribution
It introduces a novel analysis combining electromagnetic self-force with optical geometry in conformally static spacetimes, providing new conditions for local term vanishing.
Findings
Derived conditions for vanishing local self-force terms
Applied optical geometry to analyze electromagnetic self-force behavior
Enhanced understanding of self-force in curved spacetime contexts
Abstract
We present an analysis of the behaviour of the electromagnetic self-force for charged particles in a conformally static spacetime, interpreting the results with the help of optical geometry. Some conditions for the vanishing of the local terms in the self-force are derived and discussed.
