Brane World Cosmology In Jordan-Brans-Dicke Theory
M. Arik, D. Ciftci

TL;DR
This paper explores how 3+1 dimensional cosmology can be embedded in 4+1 dimensional Jordan-Brans-Dicke theory, revealing different scalar field behaviors for exponential and power law scale factors.
Contribution
It demonstrates the embedding of 3+1 cosmology in 4+1 Jordan-Brans-Dicke theory and analyzes scalar field behaviors for different scale factors.
Findings
Exponential scale factors imply a nearly constant 4+1 scalar field.
Power law scale factors lead to a time-dependent 3+1 scalar field.
The effective 3+1 scalar field remains constant for exponential expansion.
Abstract
We consider the embedding of 3+1 dimensional cosmology in 4+1 dimensional Jordan-Brans-Dicke theory. We show that exponentially growing and power law scale factors are implied. Whereas the 4+1 dimensional scalar field is approximately constant for each, the effective 3+1 dimensional scalar field is constant for exponentially growing scale factor and time dependent for power law scale factor.
