PP-waves with torsion and metric-affine gravity
Vedad Pasic, Dmitri Vassiliev

TL;DR
This paper generalizes classical pp-waves to metric-compatible spacetimes with torsion and uses these to construct new explicit vacuum solutions in quadratic metric-affine gravity, expanding the understanding of such geometries.
Contribution
It introduces a generalized definition of pp-waves with torsion in metric-affine gravity and constructs new explicit vacuum solutions.
Findings
Generalized pp-waves with torsion are characterized.
New explicit vacuum solutions in quadratic metric-affine gravity are obtained.
The properties of these generalized spacetimes are described.
Abstract
A classical pp-wave is a 4-dimensional Lorentzian spacetime which admits a nonvanishing parallel spinor field; here the connection is assumed to be Levi-Civita. We generalise this definition to metric compatible spacetimes with torsion and describe basic properties of such spacetimes. We use our generalised pp-waves for constructing new explicit vacuum solutions of quadratic metric-affine gravity.
