Maria Babiuc, Bela Szilagyi, Ian Hawke, Yosef Zlochower

TL;DR
This paper presents a method combining Cauchy and characteristic evolution to accurately extract gravitational wave signals at null infinity from numerical simulations.
Contribution
It introduces a Cauchy-characteristic Extraction (CCE) technique that improves gravitational wave extraction accuracy in numerical relativity.
Findings
Successful implementation of CCE for gravitational wave extraction
Unambiguous detection of gravitational waves at null infinity
Enhanced accuracy over previous methods
Abstract
We implement a code to find the gravitational news at future null infinity by using data from a Cauchy code as boundary data for a characteristic code. This technique of Cauchy-characteristic Extraction (CCE) allows for the unambiguous extraction of gravitational waves from numerical simulations.
