On the Frame Fixing in Quantum Gravity
Simone Mercuri, Giovanni Montani

TL;DR
This paper discusses the importance of fixing a reference frame prior to quantizing gravity, highlighting ambiguities in the 3+1-slicing of spacetime when using a quantum 4-metric.
Contribution
It emphasizes the necessity of frame fixing in quantum gravity and analyzes the ambiguities in spacetime slicing at the quantum level.
Findings
Fixing the reference frame is crucial before quantization.
3+1-slicing becomes ambiguous with a quantum 4-metric.
Highlights challenges in defining spacetime foliation in quantum gravity.
Abstract
We provide a discussion about the necessity to fix the reference frame before quantizing the gravitational field. Our presentation is based on stressing how the 3+1-slicing of the space time becomes an ambiguous procedure as referred to a quantum 4-metric.
