Subenoy Chakraborty, N. C. Chakraborty, Ujjal Debnath

TL;DR
This paper explores how a quintessence scalar field within self-interacting Brans-Dicke theory can explain the current accelerated expansion of the universe across different geometries and may also address the flatness problem.
Contribution
It demonstrates that a quintessence scalar field in self-interacting Brans-Dicke theory can produce non-decelerated expansion and potentially solve the flatness problem.
Findings
Non-decelerated expansion in open, flat, and closed models
Potential resolution of the flatness problem
Applicability across different universe geometries
Abstract
A quintessence scalar field in self-interacting Brans-Dicke theory is shown to give rise to a non-decelerated expansion of the present universe for open, flat and closed models. Along with providing a non-decelerating solution, it can potentially solve the flatness problem too.
