Newtonian limit of String-Dilaton Gravity
Salvatore Capozziello, Gaetano Lambiase

TL;DR
This paper investigates how string-dilaton gravity modifies Newtonian gravity in weak fields, deriving potential corrections influenced by scalar field interactions, with implications for galaxy rotation curves.
Contribution
It provides the first derivation of Newtonian limit corrections in string-dilaton gravity considering self-interactions and nonminimal couplings.
Findings
Derived modified Newtonian potential with scalar field effects
Identified potential explanations for galaxy rotation curves
Discussed astrophysical implications of the corrections
Abstract
We study the weak-field limit of string-dilaton gravity and derive corrections to the Newtonian potential which strength directly depends on the self interaction potential and the nonminimal coupling of the dilaton scalar field. We discuss also possible astrophysical applications of the results, in particular the flat rotation curves of spiral galaxies.
