Eckhard Meinrenken (M.I.T.), Chris Woodward (Harvard)

TL;DR
This paper explores Witten's formulas for the volumes of moduli spaces of flat connections on 2-manifolds using Hamiltonian cobordism, providing a geometric perspective on these volume calculations.
Contribution
It introduces a novel viewpoint by applying Hamiltonian cobordism to analyze Witten's volume formulas for moduli spaces.
Findings
Witten's formulas are interpreted through Hamiltonian cobordism.
The approach offers new geometric insights into volume calculations.
Connections between moduli space volumes and cobordism are established.
Abstract
We discuss Witten's formulas for the symplectic volumes of moduli spaces of flat connections on 2-manifolds from the viewpoint of Hamiltonian cobordism as introduced by Ginzburg-Guillemin-Karshon.
