Modelling the costs and benefits of Honeynets
Maximillian Dornseif, Sascha May

TL;DR
This paper introduces a model to evaluate the costs and benefits of Honeynets, aiding organizations in making informed decisions about deploying this security technology.
Contribution
It presents a novel model for quantifying costs and benefits of Honeynets, addressing the lack of precise data for security resource allocation.
Findings
Provides a framework for cost-benefit analysis of Honeynets
Facilitates informed decision-making in security deployment
Enhances understanding of Honeynet effectiveness
Abstract
For many IT-security measures exact costs and benefits are not known. This makes it difficult to allocate resources optimally to different security measures. We present a model for costs and benefits of so called Honeynets. This can foster informed reasoning about the deployment of honeynet technology.
