M. A. Boselli, I. C. da Cunha Lima, and A. Ghazali

TL;DR
This study investigates magnetic ordering in GaAlAs:Mn double quantum well structures using Monte Carlo simulations, revealing how barrier width and hole concentration influence ferromagnetic or spin-glass states.
Contribution
It introduces a confinement-adapted RKKY model for indirect exchange in GaAlAs:Mn structures, exploring magnetic phases based on structural parameters.
Findings
Ferromagnetic order occurs at certain barrier widths and hole concentrations.
Spin-glass order can emerge depending on the parameters.
The model predicts magnetic phase transitions in the structure.
Abstract
The magnetic order in the diluted magnetic semiconductor barrier of double AlAs/GaAs: Mn quantum well structures is investigated by Monte Carlo simulations. A confinement adapted RKKY mechanism is implemented for indirect exchange between Mn ions mediated by holes. It is shown that, depending on the barrier width and the hole concentration a ferromagnetic or a spin-glass order can be established.
