TL;DR
This paper demonstrates that an asymmetric double barrier device can function as an on/off switch for terahertz pulses, with its response depending on bias, offering potential for terahertz detection applications.
Contribution
It introduces a novel mesoscopic device that acts as a terahertz pulse detector by switching current states based on bias and pulse passage.
Findings
Device acts as an on/off current switch for terahertz pulses
Response depends on bias voltage
Potential application in terahertz detection
Abstract
We show that, under the passage of an electromagnetic terahertz pulse, an asymmetric double barrier device may act as an on/off current switch, depending on the bias. The time-dependent response of the device is discussed.
