A.A. Louis, R. Finken, J-P. Hansen

TL;DR
This paper studies the structure of colloid-polymer mixtures using the Asakura-Oosawa model and PY approximation, analyzing how various factors influence colloid interactions and comparing results with experiments.
Contribution
It provides a detailed theoretical analysis of colloid-polymer mixture structures considering potential range, polymer concentration, and interactions, with comparison to experimental data.
Findings
Reasonable agreement with experiments at small wavenumber
Hansen-Verlet criterion violated near freezing transition
Insights into the influence of polymer parameters on structure
Abstract
We investigate the structure of colloid-polymer mixtures by calculating the structure factors for the Asakura-Oosawa model in the PY approximation. We discuss the role of potential range, polymer concentration and polymer-polymer interactions on the colloid-colloid structure. Our results compare reasonably well with the recent experiments of Moussa\"{i}d et. al. for small wavenumber , but we find that the Hansen-Verlet freezing criterion is violated when the liquid phase becomes marginal.
