TL;DR
This paper studies the ground state energies and magnetization behavior of a one-dimensional XXZ spin chain with next-to-nearest-neighbor interactions, revealing a metamagnetic phase with discontinuous magnetization transitions.
Contribution
It introduces the concept of a metamagnetic phase in the XXZ model with next-to-nearest-neighbor coupling, characterizing the transition region between ferro- and antiferromagnetic phases.
Findings
Identification of a metamagnetic phase with discontinuous magnetization
Determination of the critical field $B_c( ext{alpha}, ext{Delta})$
Analysis of phase transitions in the XXZ model with extended interactions
Abstract
We investigate groundstate energies and magnetization curves in the one dimensional XXZ-model with next to nearest neighbour coupling and anisotropy () at T=0. In between the familiar ferro- and antiferromagnetic phase we find a transition region -- called metamagnetic phase -- where the magnetization curve is discontinuous at a critical field .
