TL;DR
This study investigates the transport properties of La(1-x)Sr(x)MnO(3), revealing giant positive magnetoresistance linked to orbital ordering influenced by superexchange interactions and Jahn-Teller distortions.
Contribution
It provides detailed measurements and explains the origin of positive magnetoresistance in La(1-x)Sr(x)MnO(3) related to orbital ordering mechanisms.
Findings
Giant positive magnetoresistance observed for 0.1<=x<=0.125
Orbital ordering explained by superexchange and Jahn-Teller effects
Transport properties linked to orbital and lattice interactions
Abstract
We report on detailed transprort measurements of single crystalline La(1-x)Sr(x)MnO(3) (x<=0.2). We have found a giantpositive magnetoresistance in the compositions range between 0.1<=x<=0.125 and give an explaination in terms of orbital ordering due to the interplay between superexchange interactions and Jahn-Teller distortions.
