TL;DR
This paper explores the possibility of creating a 2D spin monopole in a Bose-Einstein condensate, where atomic spins are arranged in a radial pattern within the x-y plane.
Contribution
It introduces the concept and feasibility analysis of a novel spin monopole state in Bose-Einstein condensates.
Findings
Feasibility of preparing a 2D spin monopole in BECs
Atomic spins can be arranged in a radial in-plane configuration
Potential for new topological quantum states
Abstract
We study the feasibility of preparing a Bose-Einstein condensed sample of atoms in a 2D spin monopole. In this state, the atomic internal spins lie in the x-y plane, and point in the radial direction.
