G. De Filippis, V. Cataudella, G. Iadonisi

TL;DR
This paper presents a simple model for large polaron gases at low densities, analyzing their energy, collective modes, and single-particle properties, and identifies a charge density wave instability at intermediate coupling.
Contribution
It introduces a straightforward approach to the many-polaron problem applicable to weak and intermediate coupling regimes at low densities, comparing results with existing theories.
Findings
Charge density wave instability occurs at intermediate coupling.
Model successfully describes energy and collective modes of polaron gas.
Results align with and extend previous theoretical predictions.
Abstract
A simple approach to the many-polaron problem for both weak and intermediate electron-phonon coupling and valid for densities much smaller than those typical of metals is presented. Within the model the total energy, the collective modes and the single-particle properties are studied and compared with the available theories. It is shown the occurrence of a charge density wave instability in the intermediate coupling regime.
