Joerg P. Kottmann, Adriaan M. J. Schakel (Freie Universitaet, Berlin)

TL;DR
This paper develops a quantum field theory model that describes vortex dynamics in superfluid films at zero temperature, integrating sound wave interactions with a Chern-Simons term.
Contribution
It introduces a novel quantum field theoretical framework combining sound waves and Chern-Simons interactions for superfluid vortices.
Findings
Effective action for vortex dynamics derived
Coupling of sound waves with vortices modeled
Theoretical predictions align with known superfluid behaviors
Abstract
A quantum field theory, consisting of the effective action of sound waves linearly coupled to a Chern-Simons term, is proposed to describe the dynamics of vortices in a superfluid film at the absolute zero of temperature.
