Low-temperature behavior of a Magnetic Impurity in a Heisenberg Chain
Yu-Liang Liu (MPI-PKS)

TL;DR
This paper investigates how a spin-1/2 magnetic impurity affects the low-temperature properties of a Heisenberg chain, revealing anomalous behaviors in specific heat and susceptibility.
Contribution
It applies bosonization to analyze impurity effects, providing new insights into low-temperature anomalies in quantum spin chains.
Findings
Impurity specific heat shows anomalous temperature dependence.
Spin susceptibility exhibits unusual behavior at low temperatures.
Bosonization effectively captures impurity effects in Heisenberg chains.
Abstract
Using the bosonization technique, we have studied a spin-1/2 magnetic impurity in Heisenberg chain, and shown that the impurity specific heat and spin susceptibility have an anomalous temperature dependence.
