On the replica approach to glasses
Giorgio Parisi

TL;DR
This paper reviews the replica method approach to understanding glasses, highlighting the role of replica symmetry breaking and its success in spin glasses, suggesting potential applicability to real glasses.
Contribution
It introduces the main elements of replica symmetry breaking and discusses its relevance and potential success in describing real glassy systems.
Findings
Replica method successfully applied to spin glasses
Replica symmetry breaking provides insights into glassy behavior
Potential for explaining real glasses using the replica approach
Abstract
Here we review the approach to glassy systems based on the replica method and we introduce the main ingredients of replica symmetry breaking. We explain why the replica method has been successful in spin glass and why it should be successful for real glasses.
