Dimerization and Incommensurate Spiral Spin Correlations in the Zigzag Spin Chain: Analogies to the Kondo Lattice
Steven R. White (University of California, Irvine), Ian Affleck, (University of British Columbia)

TL;DR
This paper investigates a frustrated spin-1/2 Heisenberg chain using DMRG and bosonization, revealing dimerization and spiral correlations, and draws parallels to the doped Kondo lattice's spin-gapped phase.
Contribution
It introduces a detailed analysis of the frustrated chain in the large J2 limit and links its behavior to the physics of the doped Kondo lattice.
Findings
Presence of dimerization in the system
Incommensurate spiral spin correlations observed
Close relation to doped, spin-gapped Kondo lattice phase
Abstract
Using the density matrix renormalization group and a bosonization approach, we study a spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with near-neighbor coupling and frustrating second-neighbor coupling , particularly in the limit . This system exhibits both dimerization and incommensurate spiral spin correlations. We argue that this system is closely related to a doped, spin-gapped phase of the one-dimensional Kondo lattice.
