Parametric Excitation of Edge Waves in the Quantum Hall Effect
Dror Orgad, Shimon Levit

TL;DR
This paper investigates how alternating current can parametrize the excitation of edge waves in a quantum Hall system, highlighting the conditions needed and potential experimental signatures.
Contribution
It introduces a novel mechanism for parametric excitation of edge modes in quantum Hall systems involving inter-edge interactions and constant current.
Findings
Parametric excitation of edge waves is possible with inter-edge interaction and constant current.
Experimental signatures of this excitation are discussed.
The process provides new insights into edge mode dynamics in quantum Hall systems.
Abstract
We consider the process of parametric excitation of gapless edge modes in a Hall bar by an alternating current. We find that such a process can be realized provided both an inter-edge interaction and a constant current are present in the bar. The expected experimental signatures of this phenomenon are discussed.
