Jaime Besprosvany, S. A. Gurvitz (Weizmann Institute)

TL;DR
This paper investigates the effects of hard-core final state interactions on the response function in deep inelastic scattering at high momentum transfer, revealing modifications to the free response and condensate peak smearing.
Contribution
It introduces a new approach to account for final state interactions in the asymptotic limit, providing insights into their impact on response functions in Fermi and Bose systems.
Findings
Modification of the free response due to final state interactions
Smearing of the condensate peak at high momentum transfer
Comparison with existing treatments of final state interactions
Abstract
Hard-core final state interaction effects in the response function are investigated in the asymptotic limit of momentum transfer q->Infinity. A new treatment of the response is presented, which displays the relevant scattering contribution. A modification of the otherwise expected free response is obtained for Fermi and Bose systems and smearing of the condensate peak is shown in this limit. A comparison with other treatments of final state interactions is made.
