TL;DR
This paper investigates the complex magnetic behavior of La3Cu2VO9, revealing hierarchical geometric frustration at multiple scales and demonstrating the formation of collective spins within clusters prior to inter-cluster interactions.
Contribution
It provides a detailed analysis of the structure and magnetic properties, introducing an exact solution to the Hamiltonian spectrum to explain the hierarchical frustration.
Findings
Geometric frustration occurs at two spatial scales.
Collective spins form within clusters at low temperatures.
Inter-cluster coupling influences magnetic behavior.
Abstract
The crystallographic structure and magnetic properties of the La3Cu2VO9 were investigated by powder neutron diffraction and magnetization measurements. The compound materializes geometric frustration at two spatial scales, within clusters and between clusters, and at different temperature scales. It is shown by exactly solving the hamiltonian spectrum that collective spins are formed on each clusters at low temperature before inter-clusters coupling operates.
