Roberto Balbinot, Serena Fagnocchi, Alessandro Fabbri

TL;DR
This paper employs Quantum Field Theory in curved space to analyze how inhomogeneities and velocity affect the depletion of Bose Einstein condensates, providing a theoretical framework for understanding these effects.
Contribution
It introduces a novel application of quantum field theory in curved space to model condensate depletion considering inhomogeneities and flow velocities.
Findings
Quantifies depletion effects due to inhomogeneities.
Analyzes impact of non-zero velocity on condensate stability.
Provides a theoretical approach for future experimental validation.
Abstract
Using methods developed in Quantum Field Theory in curved space we can estimate the effects of the inhomogeneities and of a non vanishing velocity on the depletion of a Bose Einstein condensate within the hydrodynamical approximation.
