Raoul Dillenschneider, Jean Richert

TL;DR
This paper investigates how a Chern-Simons term influences chiral symmetry restoration in (2+1)-dimensional QED at finite temperature, revealing its role in screening potentials and determining the critical temperature for massless behavior.
Contribution
It demonstrates the impact of the Chern-Simons term on chiral symmetry restoration and relates its coefficient to the critical temperature in a QED3 model of quantum spins.
Findings
Chern-Simons term affects potential screening between spinons.
Chiral symmetry is restored above a critical temperature.
The Chern-Simons coefficient relates to the critical temperature.
Abstract
We study the role played by a Chern-Simons contribution to the action in the formulation of a two-dimensional Heisenberg model of quantum spin systems with a strictly fixed site occupation at finite temperature. We show how this contribution affects the screening of the potential which acts between spinons and contributes to the restoration of chiral symmetry in the spinon sector. The constant which characterizes the Chern-Simons term can be related to the critical temperature above which the dynamical mass goes to zero.
