TL;DR
This study investigates how magnetic fields and pressure influence the thermal expansion and antiferromagnetic ordering temperature of the quasi two-dimensional compound BaNi₂V₂O₈, revealing subtle shifts in magnetic properties.
Contribution
It provides detailed measurements of thermal expansion under magnetic fields and pressure, highlighting the anisotropic effects on the magnetic transition temperature in BaNi₂V₂O₈.
Findings
A 1% increase in T_N at 10 T magnetic field along c-axis.
Positive pressure dependence of T_N along the a-axis.
Negative pressure dependence of T_N along the c-axis.
Abstract
The quasi two-dimensional magnetic BaNiVO is studied by using high-resolution thermal expansion in magnetic fields up to 10 T applied along the c-axis. A slight increase of about 1 % of the three-dimensional antiferromagnetic ordering temperature is observed at 10 T. Positive and negative pressure dependencies of , respectively, are inferred from the thermal expansion for pressures applied along the - and -axes.
