TL;DR
This paper generalizes diffusion-limited aggregation by incorporating stochastic processes for particle movement, unifying various fractal growth models like DLA, Eden, and ballistic aggregation within a single framework.
Contribution
It introduces a generalized stochastic model for fractal growth, encompassing multiple existing models and providing a new classification scheme.
Findings
Unified framework for fractal growth models
Inclusion of variable particle movement characteristics
Potential to analyze diverse fractal structures
Abstract
The paper suggests a generalisation of the diffusion-limited aggregation (DLA) based on using a general stochastic process to control particle movements before sticking to a growing cluster. This leads to models with variable characteristics that can provide a single framework for treating a number of earlier models of fractal growth: the DLA, the Eden model and the ballistic aggregation. Additionally, a classification of fractal growth models is suggested.
